I know, I know — there’s been a lot of True Blood chat on here lately. I promise this is it. This’ll be a shorter “Final Thoughts”, but my final thoughts nonetheless.
I just finished season four of True Blood and while I was rather bored this season, the final two episodes really picked things up.
I won’t spoil things, but this has got to be a record for this show. The final two episodes easily featured the most deaths ever on True Blood. It was a literal bloodbath.
There was a lot about this season that I enjoyed; the Shamans, Andy and Terry, King Bill, Alcede, Jessica and Jason… but then we’re back to the same ol’ shit that’s just annoying; Sam’s brother and “family”, Tara and her neverending “my life sucks so bad”, the crazy-ass werepanthers, the magical land of fairies…
And then there’s the extreme annoyance that is the love triangle of Sookie, Bill and Eric. I swear, I’m OVER it! It’s just sickening now. End it… please. I know this show is based off the books, but the constant soap-operaness of it all makes my brain hurt. Really, how much longer can this go on for? At this rate, the only way to freshen things up is to start season five with Bill and Eric doing each other with Sookie smiling away off in the corner of the room.
The main plot point of this season, the witches, was kinda hit and miss with me. There was times when I enjoyed it and then there was times where I just wanted the scene to change. In the end, I thought it made a good threat for the vamps, but I was glad it was over.
My main problem with this season was that the final episode just went on and on… and on and on and on. It was worse than Lord of the Rings, and I LOVE Lord of the Rings. Episode eleven should’ve been the final episode of the season because episode twelve was just too slow and too dragged out.
Overall, I didn’t end up hating the season as much as I thought I would and it was still better than the mess that was season two. I think I’m still done with this show, though. It’s just too repetitive now… even though season five seems like it’ll have more of a freshness to it. I know better, though, and I’m not gonna waste another 12 hours bitching about how Sookie should just stake the vamps and go gay.
